Whilst experiencing this personal enjoyment it is intended that members will enter into the spirit of benevolence and help swell the ‘sheep dip’ coffers to enable the disbursement of funds, as and when the need arises, locally to whoever or whatever requires immediate assistance of the nature that we can offer and, is not readily available by other sources.
24 Years On...
Over those Years our donations so far have included;
• A number of large holdalls on wheels to the visiting Children from Chernobyl, both to the Blackrod group and a group near Dublin, of the Friends of Chernobyl.
• Free-standing Storage Boxes and Display Cabinet units to the Children's Opportunity Group (COG) at Bolton.
• A beautiful trophy to Derek Hayes who is organising a team quiz for charity + 5 pint bottles of Black Sheep Ale.
• Small and major purchases of goods and/or equipment to various local disabled people.
• An electric rise & recline chair for use by sufferers of severe arthritis.
• A caravan & adventure holiday in Cornwall for a disabled child and carer.
• Toiletries etc. for a disabled coach party to use on a visit to Lourdes.
• Many Donations of Goods and Equipment to clients of;
• The Bolton Guild of Help.
And:
• Many of our Veterans.
• Bolton Armed Forces Centre - 4 Veterans.
• Horwich Foodshare managed by ex mayor Peter Wright
• Other larger, and smaller, grants have been made as and when the need has arisen to individuals, groups or organisations.

Phil's Lasting Legacy
We have lost a few Founder Members but one who has left a massive Lasting Legacy is;
Founder Member - Phil Gibbs
Local Businessman and member of Horwich Black Sheep Society leaves legacy to help local needy residents in the BL6 area.
The Phil Gibbs fund will be managed by;
Bolton Guild of Help on behalf of the Black Sheep Society.
Applicants please contact the Bolton Guild of Help in the first instance.
Phil Gibbs who passed away recently was a Chartered Surveyor who headed up P R Gibbs & Co, a Westhoughton based property management company.
As well as being a Black Sheep member, he was also involved with Horwich Rotary club who have also benefited from a separate Legacy.
Each week we are impacting several people's lives through the Phil Gibbs fund.
Items that have been given to families recently include: a sofa, 4 fridges, 4 washing machines and a bed.
We have also given vouchers to both a family and an individual who needed to buy food for their family and items for their home, towels, pans, and other utensils.
On one occasion we provided a removal van to enable a vulnerable single parent and her young children to move house.

Recent Letter from the Bolton Guild of Help
Good Morning Flock,
Thank you for the microwave for one of our clients. He came to us last week for support of a few items.
He was working until recently and has had a diagnosis of septic arthritis.
He is unable to make a full meal using a cooker as he cannot stand for a long period of
time and unable to bend and lift. His previous microwave had blown and has been eating noodles
as this is more convenient for him.
We have also been supporting with food parcels from Urban outreach.
He said to say "thank you," and that he "appreciates the support."
BGofH have also supplied him with a Washing Machine.

Meetings take place monthly on the second Tuesday, at The Crown Hotel or, Venues decided by Members in rotation. It is essential the venue can accommodate this fine body of men who require good food, good 'ale' and convivial atmosphere.
